Problem:
Traditional translators provide a plain, context-free translation and don’t assist in language learning. Users often copy text, switch between apps, and lose the convenience of seamless communication.
Solution:
Our AI-powered translator, NativeSpeak, features a messenger-style interface, making translation natural and effortless. Simply type as if you’re chatting, get instant translations, save useful phrases, and learn the language as you communicate.
The UX research for NativeSpeak involved several key stages:
1️⃣ User Research & Interviews – I conducted user interviews to understand their needs, pain points, and expectations from a translator with language-learning features.
2️⃣ User Journey Mapping – I created a user journey map to identify key challenges, needs, and potential improvements (first diagram).
3️⃣ Information Architecture & Mind Mapping – Developed the app’s information architecture (second diagram), visualizing its main sections, functionalities, and their interconnections.
These steps significantly optimized the UX, simplified navigation, and made the app more user-friendly.
